Multifamily projects can range in size and complexity and sometimes entail work on commercial spaces. Below, we’ve listed five of Torrance, California’s best multifamily contractors—experts best known for both their modern and traditional designs. We chose these firms for their experience and their impressive awards.


Bernards

555 First Street, San Fernando, CA 91340

Bernards is led by its Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Bernards. He offers the firm’s clients over four decades of experience working in and around the construction industry. He has overseen virtually every aspect of the business and has led the construction of over half a billion dollars in project contracts with the Los Angeles Unified School District, high occupancy detention centers for the City of Los Angeles, and the landmark LEGOLAND theme park in Carlsbad. Jeff also personally guides the firm’s strategic planning efforts. Under his leadership, the firm has been recognized countless times by a number of organizations, including Engineering News-Record (ENR), AIA Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Business Council, The Los Angeles Business Journal, Cal-OSHA, Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), the City of Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles Conservancy.

The project showcased here is one of the firm’s best multifamily spaces. It is a new LEED facility that achieved a Silver Rating. It spans nearly 400,000 square feet and is composed of 79 luxury condominium units. The project also has a club room, a yoga area, and space for a concierge.


Sinanian Development, Inc.

18980 Ventura Boulevard, Suite #200, Tarzana, CA 91356

Sinanian Development operates out of its office in Tarzana; it has been in business since 1983. The firm is led by its founders—the Sinanian brothers—who are trailblazers in the residential and commercial construction industry. The firm’s portfolio showcases an impressive range of impressive multi-dwelling, commercial, educational, health and public facilities as well as tenant improvement, renovation, and restoration projects. 

Completed in collaboration with the professionals over at TSK Architects, Sinanian completed this project in 2016. It is composed of 159 dwelling units and seven retail spaces. The building also has two levels of subterranean resident parking, a fitness center, a pool, and a courtyard.


McCormick Construction

2507 Empire Avenue, Burbank, CA 91504

Founded in 1914, McCormick Construction operates out of its office in Burbank and offers its clients a diverse array of commercial renovation and construction services. The firm assists its clients at every step, from preconstruction and general contracting to finish and construction management. It is also known for its great design-build approach, which allows it to keep the entire process in-house. Outside of the company’s office work, its portfolio includes several educational, museum, healthcare, hospitality, and residential projects. The company has also taken on various creative spaces and religious projects. 

Located in Burbank, this project was completed in collaboration with the professionals at Van Tilburg, Banvard & Soderbergh. It is the first LEED-certified green residential building in the city of Burbank.  There is a Whole Foods Market on the ground floor, and other great amenities include a fitness center, a private spa, and a business center. The firm also designed solar power and solar heating capabilities.


Del Amo Construction

23840 Madison Street, Torrance, CA 90505

With over five decades of industry experience, Del Amo Construction extends its services throughout Torrance. The firm is noted for being highly service-oriented and delivering all of its projects on time and within the agreed-upon budget. The firm is a privately-owned company, now on its second-generation of builders, and it is composed of around 115 professionals. Showcased below is one of the firm’s most impressive multifamily projects.

Located in exciting Long Beach, this project includes nine structures and 58 condominium units. It also features landscaped courtyards. The firm’s team partnered with EPA’s Energy Star Program for enhanced energy performance and cost savings.
