There has been a steady growth of nightclubs all over the country in the past five years. Building organizations have taken notice of these nightclub’s structural and architectural integrity. Design magazines are starting to feature nightclubs and award-giving bodies are recognizing these establishments for their architecture.

Given this trend, many contractors are extending their hospitality services to nightclubs and bars. This list contains the best contractors who construct nightclubs all around the country. Some of these contractors have worked with the industry’s best architects to create state-of-the-art nightclubs. There are also a few that are capable of designing and constructing nightclub projects. 

Portfolio, awards, and experience were taken into consideration when this article was ranked. Though many of these firms do not specialize in nightclubs, they are all adept builders, and many do specialize in hospitality projects. So if you are considering building, or just simply remodeling a nightclub, the contractors on this list are more than qualified for the job. 


17) DLD Consulting and Construction

Since 1989, DLD Consulting and Construction has specialized in creating luxury nightclubs and restaurants in California. With a knack for accurately visualizing ideas, Pete Davis established the firm as a creative outlet. Through this, he has designed and built numerous stunning residential and commercial spaces. This creative talent is sought after by big names in the hospitality industry, such as the SBE Entertainment Group. 

SBE worked with DLD to build The Colony, an upscale dance club with indoor and outdoor spaces that bring the Hamptons to Hollywood. The 13,000-square-foot club features boardwalk flooring and coastal elements complemented by pastel colors. Made in partnership with Belzberg Architects, the modern nightclub is a 14,000-square-foot venue with a restaurant, three distinct bars, and a VIP lounge. Interior and brand design for hospitality clients are all handled by Built Hospitality Design Group, while its construction services are executed by Built Design Build Company. These two divisions have become successful in leading Build, Inc. to become one of the most distinguished commercial builders in California. 

The Huffington Post and The Hedonist have both credited Sofio as one of the designers that have shaped LA’s modern nightlife scene. He and his team have created the hottest nightclub and bars in LA, including Poppy, The Beverly Nightclub, and Ravine. 


10) Shike Design

Founded in 1991, Dovetail is a custom builder that crafts fine architectural projects throughout the Puget Sound. Its architecturally-driven works have graced the pages of several books including Jim Olson’s Building, Nature, Art, and Tom Kundig’s Works. The firm has received numerous awards, including the 2019 Architizer A+Award for the Klotski Building and Trailbend Taproom, designed by Graham Baba Architects; the 2018 Historic Seattle Preservation Award for Harvard Exit, designed by SHW; as well as two distinctions from the AIA, including a 2012 Commendation Award for the Tansu House, designed by Olson Kundig and an Award of Merit for the Rock Box designed by MW Works Architecture + Design.

The Q Nightclub is Seattle’s electronica hotspot, with its state-of-the-art sound system and modern build-out transporting guests into a futuristic realm. Designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson Architecture, Dovetail constructed a club with curving organic geometries that contrast with industrial elements of concrete and steel. Radiused shapes dominate the floor of the club with a rounded bar, curvilinear couches, and oval dancing platforms. The spherical theme is completed by walls of white high-gloss paint and exposed board-formed concrete illuminated by colored lights, red upholstered furniture, and colored acrylic paneling.


5) Consigli

Consigli is one of the oldest firms on this list, having been family-owned since 1905. Peter Consigli migrated to the States to establish a masonry firm, but as his company grew, the Consigli family expanded its services. The firm now has more than 350 skilled carpenters, laborers, and masons. The firm’s capabilities are sought by those in the private and public sectors, its services catering primarily to government and historic restorations and hotel and hospitality companies.

In each project, the firm pays significant attention to the urban logistics of its site. The firm’s renovation of the Aura Nightclub in Portland, Oregon, involved large-scale construction phases necessary to transform the club into a concert and events venue. The nightclub was turned into an iconic cultural hub complete with a dance floor and an open bar. This wide-scale renovation was part of the Maine Real Estate & Development Association (MEREDA) Top Ten Notable Projects.


4) Holt Construction

After resigning as a Master Carpenter, Fred L. Holt knew that the next best move for him was to establish his own firm. In 1919, he founded Holt Construction, which has become one of Rockland’s most respected construction firms. The firm was the first company to open model homes in the United States. Its current CEO, Jack F. Holt, has helped the firm garner Fortune 500 clients and appear consistently in ENR’s Top 300 Contractors. Under Holt’s leadership, the firm has also expanded to other states such as Texas, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and Massachusetts.

The majority of Holt Construction’s commercial projects are large establishments with multiple functions. For instance, the Scores Atlantic City is an entertainment complex featuring a nightclub, sports bar, and 21 private rooms. Its nightclub boasts of the most eye-catching design: its walls are adorned with neon LED bulbs, establishing a chill techno vibe.


3) New World Design Builders
