There are also a few that are capable of designing and constructing nightclub projects.

With a knack for accurately visualizing ideas, Pete Davis established the firm as a creative outlet. Through this, he has designed and built numerous stunning residential and commercial spaces. Designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson Architecture, Dovetail constructed a club with curving organic geometries that contrast with industrial elements of concrete and steel. Radiused shapes dominate the floor of the club with a rounded bar, curvilinear couches, and oval dancing platforms. The spherical theme is completed by walls of white high-gloss paint and exposed board-formed concrete illuminated by colored lights, red upholstered furniture, and colored acrylic paneling.


5) Consigli

Consigli is one of the oldest firms on this list, having been family-owned since 1905. Peter Consigli migrated to the States to establish a masonry firm, but as his company grew, the Consigli family expanded its services. The firm now has more than 350 skilled carpenters, laborers, and masons. The firm’s capabilities are sought by those in the private and public sectors, its services catering primarily to government and historic restorations and hotel and hospitality companies.

In each project, the firm pays significant attention to the urban logistics of its site. The firm’s renovation of the Aura Nightclub in Portland, Oregon, involved large-scale construction phases necessary to transform the club into a concert and events venue. The nightclub was turned into an iconic cultural hub complete with a dance floor and an open bar. This wide-scale renovation was part of the Maine Real Estate & Development Association (MEREDA) Top Ten Notable Projects.


4) Holt Construction

After resigning as a Master Carpenter, Fred L. Holt knew that the next best move for him was to establish his own firm. In 1919, he founded Holt Construction, which has become one of Rockland’s most respected construction firms. The firm was the first company to open model homes in the United States. Its current CEO, Jack F. Holt, has helped the firm garner Fortune 500 clients and appear consistently in ENR’s Top 300 Contractors.
