Georgia is a state rich in premium kitchen remodelers. Many of the kitchen remodelers in this list are industry veterans, winning awards like Contractor of the Year and distinctions from magazine titles like Atlanta Home Improvement.  Most are also members of established remodeler groups like the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) and the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA). 

Admittedly, kitchen remodeling in an area like Georgia can be expensive due to its cost of living. However, remodelers on this list are willing to work with clients and their budget, so that a quality project can still be attained. These firms have all been evaluated on their portfolios, craftsmanship, and customer service, as well as accolades and associations.

15) Hodge Design & Remodeling

At 20 years old, Hodge Design & Remodeling is a NARI remodeler and a NARI Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler. Larry Hodge, the firm’s owner, firmly believes in keeping one’s word, a principle by which he runs his firm.  Aside from serving clients to the best of its ability, Hodge makes sure to fix mistakes made when they arise and believes in a no-excuses policy. 

One of the firm’s memorable project is the “Good Hope Kitchen.” This kitchen was completely gutted, and was designed and remodeled by Hodge. Designer custom cabinets were installed and painted a coffee color, while flooring was made of long plank LVT. The tile backsplash of the kitchen is made up of Capella Ivory.  

14) Sterling Works

Kitchen remodeler Sterling Works’ main objective is to get things done right the first time around. Home Forge Remodeling was founded in 2004 and has remodeled kitchens in Atlanta, Buckhead, Brookhaven, Chamblee, and Decatur, among others. The firm distinguishes itself in its speed; it can complete kitchen remodels in three and a half weeks, so clients can resume cooking and dining as soon as possible. The firm has been featured nine times by the Atlanta Junior League of Kitchens. It is also a member of the NAHB, Greater Atlanta Builders, and HBA of Georgia. The firm is also a member of the HBA of Georgia and the Greater Atlanta HBA. One of DB Atlanta’s kitchen remodels is a transitional kitchen in Alpharetta. The project featured an open concept floor plan, with white kitchen cabinets, granite countertops, and gray backsplash with framed herringbone accents.

 

11) JD Kitchens

JD Kitchens, founded in 1995 by Vicki Damico, specializes in custom projects within Metro Atlanta. JD Kitchens is a winner of NARI, NKBA, and CoTY awards. It also won 2015 Contractor of the Year for the Southeast United States. The firm subscribes by the belief that it exceed every client’s expectations—and customers have nothing but praise.JD Kitchens also offers baths, room additions, sun rooms, sun porches, basements, and screen porches. 

The firm is particularly proud of its Moonshine collection, which includes kitchen remodels that are modern and aesthetically pleasing. The firm notes that this line uses ultra-modern, ergonomic, and minimalistic styles.  

10) Small Carpenters at Large

Small Carpenters at Large (SCAL), a design/build residential remodeling company, has been renovating homes throughout intown Atlanta since 1980. SCAL has won an impressive number of awards since its establishment. Among the prestigious awards the firm has received is Contractor of the Year from the NARI Atlanta. This award was given for the firm’s portfolio, which includes projects on single-family Atlanta and Decatur residences in neighborhoods such as Virginia Highland, Grant Park, Medlock Park, Inman Park, and Morningside. Small Carpenters was also NARI Contractor of the Year winner in 2005, 2006, and 2016, and won Chrysalis awards from 2005 and 2008. In 2015, the company was also named  Best Remodeler for Intown Atlanta by Atlanta Home Improvement Magazine. 

One of the firm’s award-winning kitchen renovations involved a kitchen that lacked storage space and character, with few upper cabinets. The kitchen also felt removed from the breakfast and living areas, with a dropped ceiling and an island with columns on each end. Small Carpenters removed the columns and elevated the ceiling for a more well-lit and airy space. Storage space was also added. The firm remodels kitchens and bathrooms in areas including Roswell, Marietta, John’s Creek, and the Atlanta Metro Area. The firm has been featured in publications such as Signature Kitchen and Bath Magazine, Country Home Magazine, Women’s Kitchens and Baths, and Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, Trends, and Kitchen & Bath Design News. Their firm is a member of the NKBA and specializes in cabinetry, countertops, tile, and hardware, as well as in interior design. At 25 years old, HammerSmith, Inc. has proven itself with its list of accolades and impressive portfolio. Warner McConaughey, founder and president, is a veteran leader in remodeling and a firm believer of green practices. One of the main principles of his firm is that it practices sustainability and is a non-smoking company. HammerSmith also gives back to society via the city’s parks, schools, and communities. It is an EarthCraft certified remodeler. 

HammerSmith has won first place in the Sub-Zero Wolf Bi-annual Kitchen Award. It is also the four-time Grand Prize Kitchen Winner of Atlanta Homes & Lifestyle. Its work has also been extensively chronicled by the media; some of its most famous media features are in esteemed titles like Atlanta Business Chronicle, Elle Decor, Better Homes, Women’s Day, and Forbes.

4) Kitchen Connections

A 19-year-old firm, Kitchen Connections completes kitchen remodels that allow clients to have the kitchen of their dreams. This firm specializes in cabinetry that allows clients to fully use the storage in their kitchens. Kitchen Connections owner Jill Weber was the 2005 NKBA President for the Georgia Chapter. She is both a NARI Certified Remodeler and a GA State Licensed Contractor. Her firm was also the winner of the 2005 NARI Region II Contractor of the Year in Kitchen: $60,000-$100,000 and also won an International Award as one of Trends Top 50 American Kitchens in 2013. Other awards include the Decora National, Regional and Local Kitchen of the Year, Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles Kitchen of the Year, Calla Award for Best Small Kitchen.

Kitchen Connections is successful thanks to Weber’s hands-on approach. With more than two decades of experience, she makes sure that she stays on top of each project, and is engaged in each from start to end. Weber also ensures that she attends the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show annually so she’s always updated on design trends.

3) Renewal Design Build

Specializing in the renovation of older homes,  Renewal Design Build was founded by Peter Michelson in 2001. His brother, David, joined the business in 2004 and became the President. The siblings are fourth generation contractors. Renewal Design Build has won many Chrysalis Awards, including the 2013 Kitchen Remodel in the $50,000-$75,000 (National Co-Winner) and $75,000-$100,000 categories. It also won the Best Kitchen awards from 2009 to 2012. 

Renewal has built many impressive modern kitchens in various styles, from modern craftsman to loft kitchen. The winner of the Southeast Regional CotY Award for Best Residential Kitchens, for example, is a modern craftsman model in Decatur. Renewal has made the room more spacious without adding footprint. Renewal’s Morning Countryside projects is one of the most striking kitchens of the firm due to its combination of simplicity and beauty. The kitchen may be done mostly in metallic minimalist aesthetic, but it is kept warm with coats of white paint, indoor plants, and furnishings. 

2) Weidmann Remodeling

Famous in Georgia for its exquisite designs, Weidmann Remodeling has been serving the North Metro Atlanta area for three decades and expanded its operations to include the Lake Oconee area in 2014. The co-owners, Bill and Dan Weidmann, both hold engineering degrees and pride themselves on attention to detail. The firm won NARI Southeast Regional CotY (Contractor of the Year) Awards in 2019 for Best Resdential Interior $75,000 to $150,000 and in 2018 for Best Residential Addition $100,000 to $250,000. Weidmann has also been named to the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s list of Atlanta’s Top Remodeling Contractors every year since 1997.

One of its award-winning projects is a remodel that was done last year. It involved a reconfiguration and expansion of the main floor that provided better flow in the home, while providing a direct physical and visual connection from the kitchen through the family room to outdoor living beyond. The result was a minimalist aesthetic, with clean lines and many windows.

MOSAIC Design & Build has a knack for combining form and function in its projects, as well as using environmentally-friendly and sustainable procedures. This firm makes sure that it attains energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and comfort by using advanced technology. CEO and owner Rick Goldstein has more than three decades of design and construction experience, and is a registered architect. The firm also makes sure to give back, and is active in community-building. One of the kitchen projects that MOSAIC is proud of is the Buckhead property. In this kitchen remodel, the old cabinets were replaced with new ones. A new island was put in the kitchen, and a large window was installed over the sink, making it easy for users to see the garden whenever they cook or do the dishes.
