It extends its services throughout the Colorado Springs area and also takes on home additions, basement finishing, and patio covering projects. It is capable of handling any home repair or maintenance work and showcases an extensive portfolio of more modern and efficient spaces. Given that Colorado is also known for its amazing outdoor living conditions, the firm has also worked on numerous unique spaces, from man caves and custom decks to sunrooms complete with kitchens and wet bars.

The firm’s work is often distinguished its highly detailed pieces that define each project. 12) Cutting Edge Construction Company (Elk Ridge Custom Homes)

Cutting Edge Construction is the brainchild of Jason Schreifels and Phil Jung, who both relocated their families to Colorado Springs in the early 2000s. They decided to form the firm after working together on a project and deciding that they made a good team. Prior to that, the two were both successful California-based contractors with companies of their own. Each had their own fair share of experience in remodeling high-end homes and even working on the construction of some celebrities’ and professional athletes’ homes. As a result, both founders established relationships with well-known architects, designers, and decorators. 

The featured work best showcases the firm’s designs. The firm primarily specializes in modern and contemporary themes, as seen in this featured kitchen. For this project, the firm made use of a classic brick backsplash and matching granite countertops.


11) designATplay

Colorado Springs, CO 80903

A design and construction studio, designATplay focuses on high-end residential renovations, commercial projects, and custom home building. It offers a fully integrated studio and a skilled team of in-house designers who handle every aspect of a remodel from architectural planning through to completion. It also offers furniture design and custom carpentry work in its extensive array of services. The firm’s portfolio demonstrates the firm’s facility with a variety of designs, ranging from retro-inspired and traditional spaces to modern and artsy kitchens.

The featured kitchen is an example of the latter. Although the firm used primarily wood, it was able to achieve the modernity of the room through emphasizing bold lines, contemporary fixtures, and metallic elements. The firm employed a neutral color palette to further highlight its sleek designs. 


10) Winds of Change Contractors

For the past 16 years, Winds of Change has been serving Colorado Springs and has established a solid reputation for itself as an excellent remodeler. Its areas of expertise focus primarily on three areas: kitchens and bathrooms, outdoor living spaces, and windows and doors. The firm is led by David Thomspon, a builder who had a decade of experience prior to his establishment of the firm in 1999. He heavily invests in his education to further his knowledge about the industry, with his background encompassing everything from architecture and engineering to framing, general construction, and carpentry. 

The firm is affiliated with the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) and has an impressive gallery containing an array of Victorian, transitional, and modern inspired kitchens. The firm also displays excellent cabinetry, woodwork, and custom finishing skills, as seen in the project we’ve chosen to highlight. Here the firm made use of richly colored maple cabinetry and coupled them with elegant porcelain accents. 


9) J&J Construction

J&J Construction is a premier remodeling company based in Colorado Springs that makes use of a design-build approach. The firm has been in the industry since 2000 and has secured a solid reputation for itself through its outstanding kitchen remodeling work. Here the firm looked to classic French themes, which can be seen through the choice of a chandelier, the luxurious custom hood, and moldings throughout the kitchen. 


7) Twin Leaf Interiors

Twin Leaf Interiors is manned by a team of expert interior and cabinet designers and general contractors with a combined experience of over six decades. Its process includes a complimentary in-house consultation, material selection, and installations as well as a detailed contract containing an accurate timeline and average construction costs, which the firm strictly adheres to. It is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders along with the NKBA and the Building Association of Colorado Springs. Focusing on its designs, the firm specializes in traditional, craftsman, and contemporary inspired kitchens.

The featured project is an example of one of its more transitional spaces. Here, the firm combined several traditional elements such as the classic Shaker-inspired cabinetry with more eclectic themes like unique backsplashes, lighting, and sleek granite countertops. The firm also made use of an open floor plan to enlarge the kitchen. 


6) High Point Homes and Interiors

With over three decades of experience, High Point Homes and Interiors is a premier custom home builder and remodeler headquartered in Colorado Springs. The firm specializes in quite a variety of home styles, including, Mediterranean, contemporary, and classic Colorado architecture. Its work is often characterized by its rich masonry, stucco work, trimmings, and its elegant woodwork. The firm is led by its owners Bud and Candace Engels, with the former taking charge of High Point Homes and the latter overseeing its interiors division. 

Together, the two have led its team to complete projects throughout Front Range, Aspen, and Snowmass. Manned by a team comprised of a group of skilled and certified professionals and bonded subcontractors, it is also affiliated with several prestigious organizations such as the American Society of Interior Designers and the NKBA. 

The firm has been recognized as among the country’s top 500 remodelers and specializes in transitional and modern designs. Its work often features distinct fixtures, unique backsplashes, and large kitchen islands. 


4) Independent Construction and Remodel

Established in 1992, Independent Construction and Remodel is an award-winning firm that has worked on homes throughout Colorado. It is best known for its baths, kitchens, and bedroom renovations as well as its basement finishes and home additions. To focus more on its kitchens, the firm offers its clients two options: a custom redesign, wherein its team can work on creating an entirely new layout of a space, or an update which mostly emphasizes modernizing outdated elements rather than doing a complete overhaul. In terms of design, the firm specializes in modern and transitional themes, as you’ll see in the project we felt best embodies the Independent’s ability to enlarge spaces and open up floor concepts.

The firm has won numerous awards since its establishment. Some of these include being named Remodeler of the Year by the Housing and Building Association of Colorado Springs in 2018. The firm is also affiliated with several industry organizations, including the National Association of Home Builders Remodelers, which granted the firm the title of Certified Graduate Remodeler.


3) Home Fix

Named by The Gazette as the “Best of the Springs” in 2014, 2016, and 2017, Home Fix is a leading home improvement firm that specializes in kitchen and bathroom remodels, basement finishing, roof replacements, and handyman services. Serving the Colorado Springs and El Paso County area, the firm offers a five-year craftsmanship warranty for all of its remodeling work and has been recognized for its excellent services since its inception in 2007. The firm’s work is often distinguished by the woodwork, custom cabinetry, and flooring as well as its accents and kitchen islands. The firm’s designs often employ transitional and traditional themes, as exhibited in the project featured below.  

Referred to as the “Rescue Project,” the firm worked with DesignCents to correct some previous remodeling errors in this kitchen. Its most distinct new feature comes in the form of the custom kitchen island made of both stone and wood, which the firm is particularly proud of. 


2) DreamMaker Bath and Kitchen

Extending its services throughout the Pikes Peak region, DreamMaker is a premier kitchen and bathroom remodeling firm serving Colorado Springs. The firm was founded in 1972 and has since been recognized numerous times both in the media and through the various awards it has won throughout its years in service. That ability is evident in the firm’s historical work, which the firm has been hailed for its “compatible” renovations. The firm’s projects have graced the pages of Modern Home Builder and it is also affiliated with the Historical Preservation Alliance of Colorado Springs and its local Building Association. 

The specializes in a vast array of complex designs, including French manor, Dutch colonial, Craftsman, and several contemporary themes. Its work is often characterized by rich granite and quartz countertops, elegant finishes, and unique accents.
