BCCI Construction

With over three decades of experience, BCCI provides a full range of commercial construction and renovation services and is best known for its tenant improvements, new construction, historic restorations, and seismic retrofits. The firm is privately owned and has been recognized as one of the Greater Bay Area’s largest and best contractors. Engineering News-Record recognized BCCI as one of the country’s Top 100 green building contractors and California’s best contractors in 2018. The firm’s multifaceted experience has enabled it to become an expert in structures, interiors, and sustainability projects. The BCCI portfolio is a gallery of projects from multiple market sectors. The firm is affiliated with several prestigious organizations, including the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and several other green building organizations. The firm has worked with numerous noteworthy clients throughout its years in service, including Adobe, Forbes Media, and Accenture.

Located in San Francisco, the project above was completed in collaboration with NicholsBooth Architects. It spans 160,000 square feet and was finished back in 2007. This project challenged the firm with a highly technical and challenging renovation of the historic Bently Reserve. The firm had to improve its LEED standards, its lighting control, and its security upgrades.


Level 10 Construction

Although relatively young, Level 10 Construction has proven to be one of the fastest-growing firms on this list. Founded by eight industry veterans in 2011, the firm was established in hopes of creating a construction company with a highly client-centered approach. By 2016 the firm was named the second-largest general contractor in Northern California by the Engineering News-Record and earned a spot on Building Design + Construction’s Giants 300. The Level 10 staff continually updates their knowledge, striving to learn the latest construction techniques through the use of the latest industry technology. With the help of BIM, 3D goggles, and other electronic media, you can expect a highly streamlined process that will keep you in the loop. The firm is also a privately held company, which makes it more flexible and free from long-standing corporate constraints. And it can assist its clients with accounting, finance, and several other management systems. 

Spanning 10,095 square feet, this project was a tenant improvement for Crown Castle. It was completed in two months back in 2018. It features an all-new open office space, three large conference rooms, two collaboration areas, and two teaming rooms.


W. L. Butler

1629 Main Street, Redwood City, CA 94063

Founded in 1975, W.L. Butler is the brainchild of its founder and namesake, William Butler. Since its inception, the firm has grown from being a small construction company into the large-scale firm it is today. Under his leadership, W.L. has secured long-term relationships with both the area’s leading subcontractors and premier clients. The firm has become widely respected and has extended its services throughout the most sought-after places in California. It has had the privilege of completing spaces for various Fortune 500 companies. Some of these include Target, Costco, Gilead, Charles Schwab, Samsung, Whole Foods, and AmerisourceBergen. Its portfolio also depicts several stellar projects from the automotive, healthcare, and retail industries. 

Operating out of its office in Redwood City, W.L. is composed of over 200 experienced professionals. Together, the company generates roughly $250M in sales annually. The project above was completed for Allbirds, a sustainable shoe and clothing retailer. Located in Pasadena, the tenant improvement includes reworking its exterior signs and fabric awnings, new partition walls, and a suspended ceiling. 


Rudolph and Sletten

With over six decades of experience in the industry, Rudolph and Sletten has curated a stellar portfolio for itself with projects ranging from laboratories and campuses to the most beautiful educational institutions and renowned tenant improvements. The firm operates out of its office in San Carlos and since its inception, has had the opportunity to work on over 3,000 projects with the help of its five offices in California. The company makes use of only the best materials coupled with the latest techniques. This meticulous process has resulted in timeless and award-winning work. Some of the firm’s most recent and impressive distinctions include the 2021 Project Achievement Award from the Construction Management Association of America Northern California Chapter’s Annual Awards program.

Showcased above is the firm’s project for the City of Mountain View. It was completed together with the minds of Watry Design. The project challenged the firm with coming up with a comprehensive solution that will allow for a structure that will house both retail service and free parking. As a result, it came up with nine-panel art glass that hides the parking structure containing 405 spaces. 


XL Construction Corporation

Headquartered in Milpitas, XL Construction Corporation assists its clients closely throughout the entire process and is regarded for its comprehensive methods and approaches. It is noted for completing all of its spaces on time and within the agreed-upon budget. The firm is also well-respected for the safety measures it takes before starting any build. Emphasizing the importance of close collaboration between contractor and client, XL utilizes only the latest techniques, including BIM. The company’s portfolio showcases a wide range of civic, corporate office, education, healthcare, and life science projects. And the firm is no stranger to critical acclaim: in 2021, it ranked 11th on Silicon Valley Business Journal’s Largest General Contractors Silicon Valley List, 18th on Modern Healthcare‘s Construction & Design List, and 14th on Sacramento Business Journal’s General Contractors List.

The project above features the firm’s work on Netflix’s Albright Campus. It spans 137,000 square feet. Located in Los Gatos, the firm made use of the MEP design-build approach for this project. Some elements it worked on include high-end finishes in the lobby, conference rooms, and various office spaces.


Truebeck Construction

A proven trailblazer in the commercial construction industry, Truebeck Construction is a full-service general contractor that specializes in highly technical and complex projects and interiors. The firm provides not only building and renovation services, but also preconstruction, construction management, and safety management work. It is also well-known for its progressive and highly advanced methods. The firm has a history with challenging projects and delivers in a variety of methods from design-build to Integrated Project Delivery and also has expertise in a wide variety of mechanical and electrical systems. In terms of design, the firm’s interiors team specializes in designing offices equipped for living, working, and playing. The firm has been featured multiple times in pages of Engineering News-Record which has also consistently named the firm on its annual list of the country’s leading firms. Truebeck has also been lauded by several other award-giving bodies, including the AIA. 

The project above showcases one of the firm’s best projects. Located in Cupertino, it spans 240,000 square feet and was finished with the professionals at Foster + Partners. The project entailed a ground-up, three-story subterranean parking garage with an above-grade visitor center building. The space was completed with the use of the innovative design-build MEP delivery method. 


Webcor Builders

Founded in 1971, Webcor is known for its innovative approach, cutting-edge Building Information Modeling, and virtual building techniques. It offers a full range of services, including subcontractor engagement and budgeting assistance, as well as 24-hour responses and an annual building inspection program as part of its warranty. As a LEED-certified firm, Webcor also incorporates green building practices in its projects to ensure the sustainability and high efficiency of its buildings. As a result, the firm has worked on some important and iconic projects over the years. In 2002, it was tasked with working on Lucas Digital Arts, which serves as the headquarters of Lucasfilm and beloved Star Wars filmmaker George Lucas. 

One of its best projects, however, is the project depicted here. Completed in Playa Vista, this project has a scale of roughly 66,000 square feet and contains three levels. For this project, the firm’s team worked with the professional architects of Gensler and came up with numerous offices, conference centers, two large screening rooms, and an exquisite amphitheater perfect for its client, IMAX. 


NOVO Construction

NOVO Construction operates out of three offices located in Menlo Park, San Francisco, and Austin. It adheres to the highest standards and can take on projects regardless of size or scale. Its headquarters are located in Menlo Park, which houses most of its experienced employees. The firm has been around since 2000 and has had the privilege of working in some of the best areas in the Bay Area. Specializing in small to large-scale build-outs, NOVO showcases a deep understanding of Menlo Park’s most popular architectural vernaculars and has secured long-standing relationships with countless customers for the greater part of two decades. It describes its approach as similar to that of a “boutique” firm, assuring clients that it personalizes and caters its methods for each project that it takes on. 

The project above was completed for Pinterest Palo Alto. This tenant improvement entailed working on various modifications to an already existing suite. It now includes an all-hands area, a café, updated partitions, a new ceiling grid and tiles, and light fixtures. Our editorial team was especially taken by its great millwork and its high-end finishes. 


South Bay Construction

Extending its services throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, South Bay Construction is composed of an experienced and highly-acclaimed team of talented professionals. It draws inspiration and expertise from decades of industry experience and employs a design-build approach. It offers its clients stellar value engineering and has been noted for having secured long-term relationships with some of the area’s most notable household brands. The firm’s portfolio displays a wide range of project types. These include commercial structures, education, healthcare, and hospitality spaces. It has also taken on several mixed-use, residential, tenant improvement, and retail projects.

The project above was completed for CDK Global in San Jose. The project spanned 76,000 square feet and included work on an existing two-story office building. The firm worked on the lobby, several conference rooms, and open office areas. Its team also installed various lounge areas, a meditation area, a library, and several restrooms.
