Weitz is a full-service construction company that specializes in commercial and industrial spaces. The firm is an expert in the design-build approach and follows its own comprehensive method throughout the entire process. Established in 1855, the firm is the oldest commercial general contractor found on the west side of the Mississippi River. Every year, it’s ranked quite high in some of the country’s most important industry publications, including the Engineering News-Record. The firm has a stellar portfolio and the reputation to go with it. The firm provides projects in the federal, aviation, senior living, office, tenant improvement, and retail space sectors.
The project featured here is an excellent example of the firm’s expertise. Located in Glendale, the project was finished in 2014. It spans 7,500 square feet and was completed in collaboration with Shift Companies. It was completed for the Orangewood Hub and includes a Distributed Antenna System.
LGE Design Build

LGE Design Build works on projects from a variety of market types, including offices, mixed-use, adaptive reuse, industrial, retail, educational, and medical projects. The firm is one of the area’s premier firms and is an expert in the design-build process. It offers its client nearly three decades of industry experience and is composed of a talented team, who together have worked on countless award-winning designs. Since its establishment, the firm has worked on over 1,200 projects and adheres to the highest standards. LGE is also noted for its comprehensive conceptual design proposals, in addition to its great cost control work. This approach assures clients that all of the firm’s projects are completed on time and within the agreed-upon budget.
The project featured here is an excellent example of the firm’s work. Spanning 12,550 square feet, the project was completed in 2018. It was completed for Arizona Outback Adventures and serves as its headquarters. For this project, the firm’s team opted for a great mix of rustic and natural materials.
Tofel Dent Construction

Tofel Dent operates out of its office in Tucson and provides its clients a complete and comprehensive range of services. It specializes in commercial, hospitality, and multi-family projects. The firm is a premier general contracting firm that takes great pride in the stellar reviews it has received over the years. The firm has been in business since 1984 and is the brainchild of its founders, twin brothers Steve and Rich Tofel. Under their leadership, the firm has become well-known for its pre-construction coordination and its excellent processes. The photo below is an excellent example of its expertise.
This project was completed in 2007 and cost around $5.2M. For this project, the firm’s team worked with the professionals at Reece Angell Rowe. The firm built a 61-unit affordable senior housing structure.
Guthrie General

Guthrie General operates out of two offices: one in Glendale and another in Newport Beach. The firm is family-owned and operated and specializes in general contracting, architecture, and interior design. It has been in business since 1975 and is locally owned and operated. Since its establishment, the firm has become an expert in the healthcare, commercial, education, government, and religious sectors. The firm has worked on over 150 healthcare facilities. The firm is an expert in the design-build approach, allowing its team to oversee the entire process from start to finish. That process also enables the firm to deliver results faster and save money throughout the entire process.
The firm is led by its CEO, Robin Guthrie, and its president, Jim Guthrie. Robin joined the firm in 1979 and oversees the firm’s dedicated team and has expanded the company’s services. Jim, on the other hand, is experienced in every phase of the process. He has moved through the ranks from carpenter, to superintendent to project manager to project director. Today he serves as president.
Desert Build

Each of its spaces is overseen by a superintendent, as well as its talented and experienced team. Our editorial team was also impressed by its offices, industrial spaces, and restaurants.
