It challenged the firm with the demolition of its original and existing fire-damaged two-story building. Now, the project features metal panel facades and two elevators. We were also impressed by its new asphalt, paving, and landscaping.

ARCO Construction Company

The project above best depicts one of the company’s best completions. Located in Torrance, this project was designed and constructed for SecureSpace. It spans over 110,000 square feet. 

DAI General Contracting

DAI General Contracting is the product of the vision of its founder, Laurence Damato. He grew restless after having worked seven years for a large and well-known general contracting firm that specializes in storage spaces, before finally deciding to start a firm of his own. He would later be joined by Fred Hanhauser. Under their leadership, the firm has secured a solid reputation for itself. It has also become known for not only its self-storage work but also its industrial projects and office buildings. Depicted below is one of the company’s best works.

Located in Chula Vista, this project was finished back in 2020. Spanning over 128,171 square feet, it was designed and constructed for Escaya Self Storage.

Huff Construction Company, Inc.

The depicted project is located in the heart of Emeryville. It entailed the conversion of an existing manufacturing building into this all-new two-story self-storage facility. The firm’s team also had to work on its extensive tenant improvements.

Eleven Western (or EWB) is personally overseen by its Founder and Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, Rick Backus. A second-generation builder, Rick was raised in the industry and became a skilled rough carpenter at a young age. His field to desk experience allows him extensive insight into every element of the process. The company is led by its President, Greg McDonald. Greg joined EWB 32 years ago as a Project Manager after receiving his BS in Construction Management from Chico State. He served as Chief Estimator, Senior PM, and Vice President of Construction prior to his promotion to President in 2019.

The project for Public Storage above was completed in Irvine. For this project, the firm’s team was tasked with not only its general contracting but also its ground-up construction and site analysis. It worked on the addition of its second and third floors.

Diede Construction, Inc

Both functional and aesthetically pleasing, this was completed in collaboration with Extra Space Storage, the second-largest self-storage company in the world, with over 700 facilities throughout the United States. Its scope includes the construction of a two-story sales office and residence, equipped with high-tech security and communications systems. The firm’s team also had to work on various break rooms and open space offices.

Rarig Construction, Inc.

Rarig Construction is a family owned-and-operated business that dates as far back as 1896, making it one of the oldest companies on this list. It operates out of its office in San Luis Obispo and has had the opportunity to work in some of the best areas in Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, and the entire Central Coast area of California, including many wineries in Paso Robles. The company’s team oversees everything through the use of an excellent design-build approach, able to work on projects no matter the scale. 

Depicted above is a project that was completed for Meathead Movers & Mini Storage. It is the largest moving company, mini storage, and wine storage facility out on the Central Coast, having over 162,000 square feet of space. Inside, it houses various state-of-the-art fixtures, as well as metal wall panels supplied by Kingspan Insulated Panels. The project received an Obispo Beautiful Association Award of Recognition from the City of San Luis Obispo in 2012.

Deacon Construction, LLC

7745 Greenback Ln., Citrus Heights, CA 95610

Deacon Construction has been in business since 1981. It operates out of its office in Citrus heights and prides itself on the great clientele list it has curated for itself through the years. It was completed in collaboration with KSP Studio and entailed an extensive remodel. The firm’s team had to demolish its interiors and rework its existing shell.

RDS Contracting extends its services throughout Southern California and is headquartered in Lakeside. It specializes in all aspects of commercial construction.
