The materials used at Valmont include textures that evoke nature, such as wood, living plant walls, and planters. Some of the amenity spaces in the office space include a fitness facility and easy access to stairs for increasing movement, nourishment centers strategically placed throughout to encourage healthy eating and collaboration, and clear visibility to the outside for a connection to nature. Signage throughout the space, designed by Turnpost, highlights the sustainability features to inform and educate the users. The 29,354-square-foot renovation project, completed in 2017, has various space types to allow employees to pick where and how they work on a day-to-day or even hour-to-hour basis. Individual departments are divided into neighborhoods, each containing customized workstations adapted to the type of work performed inside that department and several collaboration places that allow for cross-departmental interaction.

NP Dodge collaborated with The Architectural Offices for this featured project. AO joined the project during site selection and collaborated with NP Dodge on the new structure’s design. The new facility can house up to 150 agents and reflects NP Dodge’s inventive culture. While the more typical offices line the west side of the building, a big, open “living room” allows agents to hang out. Materials for the exterior and interior were chosen for their durability, aesthetic appeal, and economic effectiveness.
