12) Wise Guys Home Improvement

Robert Lindsey is a South Carolina native and residential remodeler praised for his custom remodels and renovations. He opened Wise Guys Home Improvement in 2008 with his partner Ryan Parsons.  Since then Wise Guys has evolved into a high-quality home building company with a reputation for being honest, efficient, and clean. The firm serves the Downtown Columbia region.

The company specializes in kitchen and bathroom remodeling, whole house renovations, and historic restorations. In fact, the firm has won Columbia Remodeling Awards (CRA) for its bathroom remodeling projects and a 2018 CRA for a kitchen remodel.

The homeowners of a 1920’s home turned to Wise Guys for a much-needed update of their kitchen. To create space, the firm put in a vaulted ceiling with skylights. White Shaker-style cabinets and soapstone countertops with a monochromatic palette modernized the kitchen.

The firm was established by Elaine and Dick Gallup and further enhanced by the efforts of RB Gallup and Robert Lafitte. Over the past decade, it was hailed as Remodeler of the Year in Charleston County twice and has earned Prism Awards for remodeling from the Charleston Home Builders Association (CHBA), and Pinnacle Awards from the  Home Builders Association (HBA) of South Carolina.

Daniel found his passion for building at 14 and pursued it through an apprenticeship program. He further pushed his abilities by starting Dan’s Handyman Service in 2001. Bob, on the other hand, worked for top multinational and global engineering companies for 32 years before teaming up with his son-in-law to start this local company specializing in renovations.

The firm is passionate about “building trust” with clientele in Upstate South Carolina. They build trust and long term client relationships on the basis of service, craftsmanship and integrity. Their experienced renovation experts utilize a design-build approach to ensure expectations are met.

Rob Crawford founded Renaissance South in 2008. In addition to his years of building experience, Crawford has served on the Board of Directors of the CHBA since 2009.
