When it comes to completing home improvement projects, it can be challenging to find a contractor that listens to clients’ specific needs and can create solutions when construction issues come up.

Our team has curated a list of the best general contractors in Buena Park, California, selected based on their accreditations, certifications, professional affiliations, and the recognition each firm has received in the form of industry awards, client reviews, and features in the press. We have also laid out the range of services the firms offer, their specializations, and the length of time they have been in the industry.

All Pro Builders

1400 W. Commonwealth Ave., Fullerton, CA 92833

All Pro Builders is a design-build construction business that has been offering designs and drawings, additions, remodeling, and general contracting services for more than three decades. President Paul Paniagua started by working in his father’s construction company as well as for a few other remodeling companies. He got his Contractor’s License in 1989 and began his company shortly thereafter. All Pro Builders has earned accreditation from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and the North Orange County Chamber of Commerce.

All Pro Builder’s process begins with an initial discussion between the contractor, designer, and the client to gather information, establish the scope of work, and determine budget goals for the project. Upon approval of the preliminary design, a Design Agreement will then be drafted and signed. The overall project proposal will then be created in tandem with the creation of the working drawings. Once the permit is obtained the Build phase gets going and the construction will be scheduled, started, and completed to your satisfaction.

The contractor has mastered implementing the process in its projects such as its remodel of a 5,000-square-foot home in the Quail Hill community of Irvine. It installed an engineered 26-foot multi-slide door that now allows the indoor living area to open to a breathtaking view of the city. The kitchen was updated, the bathrooms were completely remodeled, and structural details added.

BMV Construction

11606 Washington Blvd., Unit D, Whittier, CA 90606

For over 14 years, BMV Construction has built new custom homes, specializing in craft custom homes, multi-units, and new accessory dwelling units as small as 300 to 1,200 square feet. The company works on all things remodeling — home, bathroom, second-story additions, kitchen remodels, and garages. The firm is accredited by the Whittier Area Chamber of Commerce and the League of California Homeowners.

Whether it’s building a new house or remodeling an existing home, the company helps its clients through the whole process. Project managers are present from the initial concept to the coordination of architectural design and city requirements to complete construction. For this Tuscan Design new home, the existing garage was converted into an accessory dwelling unit. Hardwood flooring and porcelain tiles were installed in the bathrooms and laundry area. The contractor worked on another Tuscan design home in Pasadena and built a second level adding a master bedroom, bathroom, and walk-in closet. The firm also reinforced the first floor and remodeled the existing bathroom, two bedrooms, and the living and dining room. BMV completed a new addition and remodel in Hawthorne where it reinforced the existing home and built a new second floor. It added a new master bedroom and bathroom, a walk-in closet, two bedrooms, and one bathroom.

Bourke Construction

816 Manzanita Dr., Laguna Beach, CA 92651

Bourke Construction proudly serves Orange County and has offered a wide range of services including interior and exterior remodeling, additions, general contracting, roofing, and painting since 1996. The firm has accumulated 75 years of experience in the construction industry with accreditation from NARI. Prior to owning Bourke Construction, Ed Bourke worked in construction for 15 years in London and has been consulted for a number of construction industry articles.

One of the firm’s most prominent works is this San Clemente Home Remodel which features a transitional contemporary living room and an open floor plan with gray concrete flooring. The contractor built the home with a walnut accent wall, a stone fireplace, and a coffered ceiling with lighting. It also completed a kitchen and bathroom remodel with a u-shaped open layout and clerestory windows that allow sunlight to fill the space and emphasize the high ceiling. For another kitchen and home remodel, it carried out an l-shaped layout with porcelain tiles and a contemporary living room distinguished by its pastel color palette.

Builder Boy

1819 Redondo Ave., Signal Hill, CA 90755

Established in 1994 by Jereme James, Builder Boy is a full-service general contractor with skilled craftsmen and tradesmen specializing in home renovations and new construction. The firm is committed to offering viable building and remodeling solutions to homeowners and business owners alike. The company brings diligent planning, expert opinions, clear-cut organization, honest communication, and quality materials and craftsmanship to its collection of projects.

The lower area of this Elder home remodel was upgraded by an open plan concept. The wall between the kitchen and the living room was removed, which brightened up the space. The new carpentry provided by Cabinet Boy was painted white and the new island with plenty of storage was painted a vibrant blue, making the room even more vibrant. The floor was also changed, so the new color would complement the design of the kitchen. An equally challenging project was the Wheeler bathroom remodel. The company needed to tear down part of a wall to add more space to accommodate the master bathroom addition. Square footage for a closet was also added and an existing bathroom was renovated. After the addition was done, Stucco Boy was able to match the color of the stucco of the house with the new addition.

Horizon Construction & Remodeling

614 South Euclid St., Fullerton CA 92832

Horizon has been in the construction and remodeling industry for the past 13 years serving customers in Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Bernardino. As a member of NARI and the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), the BBB-accredited company provides quality additions, structured work, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, pools, interior, and exterior general contracting work. Its team of professionals stays current with the newest innovations while taking the environment into consideration. Additionally, the company has earned its certification from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as Lead-Safe.

Owner Mark Besnos and his team have successfully finished many complicated projects including this home remodel which included removing load-bearing walls to open up the space. The company also did a major kitchen remodel that involved removal of a fireplace and reconstruction of a large portion of the ceiling. Horizon replaced the cabinets and sink, inserted a backsplash, rewired the house, and repainted the walls. The company also remodeled a 2,500-square-foot home and worked on the kitchen, master bath, flooring, lighting, paint, fireplaces, millwork, plumbing, and tile. Horizon gutted both bathrooms and replaced everything with new white porcelain tile, mosaic panels, sturdy glass doors, chrome trims, and all new fixtures. It designed the layouts and helped clients select materials for the floor, ceiling, kitchen counters, and bathrooms.

McGee Construction

639 Maple Ave., Brea, CA 92821

McGee Construction’s building expertise encompasses remodeling of existing homes, new custom home construction, multifamily housing, tenant improvements, commercial and industrial office buildings in Los Angeles and Orange County. Larry McGee, the owner of the company, handpicked a team of skilled professionals in every trade with over 20 years of experience. He actively oversees every stage of each construction project and oversees every step of the way to ensure the project is done right.

A testament to McGee Construction’s skill in building is a home remodel that involved upgrading a kitchen and adding a master bedroom and bath. Larry took responsibility for the challenges and made sure all the sub-contractors completed their portion of the project efficiently and to the client’s satisfaction. Larry and his team encountered another challenge for a remodel of the first floor of a house where multiple walls were removed and plumbing had to be changed around. The company also did a multi-room remodel which included a complete kitchen and master bathroom remodel. Larry’s quote was itemized and he worked to meet the client’s needs while maintaining clear communication with them. He stayed with the original bid for the projects and if there were any additional costs due to changes, he informed the clients prior to the changes.

Morey Remodeling Group

2501 E 28th St., Signal Hill, CA 90755

Morey Remodeling is an award-winning remodeling company located in Signal Hill, accredited by GuildQuality, the Building Industry Association (BIA), the Remodelers Council, and the NKBA. The firm has also received recognition from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) with a Qualified Remodeler Master Design Award and a Homes for Life Award of Excellence. Since 1982, its client-centered approach has earned it a 95% return client and referral rating.

The firm’s collection of projects reflects the company’s excellent craftsmanship such as this renovation of a 60’s era house. For this Rolling Hills addition, the owners sought to have additional living space and a complete redesign of every room. The design was created to add more space to the back of the home for a new family room, more space between the existing garage and house for the laundry room, and to add a master suite with a walk-in closet that took over the existing bathroom.

A similarly complex project is the Coastal Modern kitchen remodel. Morey Remodeling pushed the front wall of the house out to the existing porch edge to create a larger kitchen area and more room for the new island. New beams were installed between the kitchen and dining room in order to support the roof and ceiling load when walls were removed.

OC Builders Group

600 W Santa Ana Blvd., Ste 114A Santa Ana, CA 92701

OC Builders Group designs, renovates, and builds homes, from concept to reality, proudly servicing Orange County. The firm has received excellent feedback from its previous clients for all the home remodeling, new construction, new additions, and general contracting it has provided. For one of its projects, OC Builders Group remodeled the kitchen and bathroom and created a built-in office with storage cabinets and a laundry area. The company installed kitchen cabinets, a backsplash, and counters according to the client’s design. The team rearranged the bathroom’s toilet and vanity, turning the tight room into a layout that feels open and makes the best use of the space. For the office and storage cabinets, OC Builders Group built a built-in desk, desk drawers, and floor-to-ceiling cabinets around the desk. The contractor gave daily updates on the progress by sending photos to the client of the work that was completed for the day.

OC Builders Group is also well-known for its ability to complete projects at a fast pace without compromising quality craftsmanship. The company took only five weeks to remodel a kitchen and a powder room and replace the entire flooring of a house. The firm worked on design, computer rendering, cabinets, countertops, and paint. The company also did a last-minute remodeling of two bedrooms and two bathrooms in under 90 days before the clients’ baby arrived. It picked up various products and fixtures and provided research for the client.
