Trends in architecture and construction continue to progress as we move forward into the new normal, with designs evolving in ways that keep people moving and make spaces more functional. Yorba Linda is filled with experienced licensed builders, but picking the ideal professional for your specific needs may seem overwhelming.

To help ensure your project’s success, our editorial team has culled a list of the city’s best commercial contractors, all chosen for their project expertise, award recognition, and extensive industry experience.

Angeles Contractor, Inc.

783 Phillips Dr., City of Industry, CA 91748

Known regionwide for its commitment to delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget, Angeles Contractor, Inc. (ACI), continually raises the bar on industry standards. The team’s leaders are experts in design/build, construction, architecture, master planning, engineering, and quality control, and their accountability and technical-management skills have resulted in a strong working relationship with both clients and various industry specialists.

ACI’s outstanding portfolio includes projects completed for CGV Cinemas, the Rose Bowl, and Carson Arts. The newest addition to the Cambria Hotel chain, in Los Angeles, is also among the team’s many commercial successes. Partnering with owner PNK | Group Investments, LLC, ACI transformed a historic 14-story building into the latest Cambria Hotel, on Spring Street. The renovation utilized the brand’s notable upscale features, adding form, function, and beauty — from a new skylight system that maximizes natural light on the upper 10 floors to a new foundation system with a seismic upgrade. Built in  1927 as a parking structure and later developed into the headquarters of the LA vice squad, this storied location has yet another chapter unfolding as an upscale boutique hotel.

Fullmer Construction

1725 S. Grove Ave., Ontario, CA 91761

Since 1946, Fullmer Construction has been one of the pioneers in high-caliber construction in Southern California. Leonard Fullmer founded the company to serve as a custom-home builder, but the firm soon expanded its range to include medical offices, business centers, private campuses, industrial buildings, and retail centers. Today, the full-spectrum firm is under the leadership of Leonard’s son Robert Fullmer, whose years of profound construction experience have led to the refinement of the group’s processes.

Among the company’s many specialties is green building and expansion into adapting marketplaces. South Coast Home Furnishings, in Costa Mesa, is a prime example of that capacity for flexible growth. Construction began with the removal of a 1960s insurance campus. The team then provided a complete design/build process of eight high-end single-story buildings totaling 256,400 square feet, now hosting multiple upscale residential furniture-design stores and retail spaces for guest hospitality services.

MATT Construction

9814 Norwalk Blvd., Suite #100, Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670

MATT Construction has been creating remarkable buildings in the Western U.S. since 1991. The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall are among the firm’s notable works. Its team of designers is devoted to collaborating in every way possible — both within the company and with clients — to achieve the highest quality. MATT Construction’s proficiency has been recognized by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Los Angeles, with a Building Team of the Year award and the AIA presidential award.

Through design by Callison Architects and skillful construction by MATT Construction, the Nordstrom Santa Monica was created. This 126,733-square-foot three-story retail building was fully renovated both inside and out, from loading dock and people-moving features to storefronts, mall entries, and exterior scape, and the smooth design and construction process ultimately earned MATT the NECA Electrical Excellence Award.

Howard Building Corporation

707 Wilshire Blvd., Suite #3750, Los Angeles, CA 90017

Howard Building Corporation continues to lead the industry in cutting-edge commercial construction. Since opening its doors in 1983, the firm has established its excellent reputation among clients and peers. Its talented team, led by Mike Howard and Paul McGunnigle, is guided by the vision of creating future-forward spaces. This commitment to bold, next-generation thinking (as noted by its 38 LEED-certified projects) has earned the firm abundant recognition, including 15 IIDA Calibre awards and 24 other recent industry awards.

The Warner Music Group building in Los Angeles is one of Howard Building Corporation’s legendary projects. The team worked with Warner Music Group and Rockefeller Kempel Architects for the completion of the 300,000-square-foot space, taking ample care to preserve the novel characteristics of this former Ford Model T factory. This adaptive-reuse project reflects the team’s sustainable solution to the finite space in Los Angeles, and the exceptional restoration effort earned both LEED Gold Certification and the US Green Building Council’s Sustainable Innovation award.
