Pictured above is the 15 acre Annenberg Sunnylands Administration & Office Campus. This project is an addition to the Sunnylands Center & Gardens, which consists of seven single-story buildings. Additional parking spaces and wetlands coexist with the ecological wastewater treatment system supporting the wetlands. The building optimizes the use of solar energy, harvesting an abundant amount of sunlight within the day to power the campus. Roof ventilator units and low-energy cooling solutions improve air quality. This project received the 2019 | CMACN & AIACA Grand Award, the Public/Civic Design Award, and a LEED Platinum rating.

Swinerton

1150 South Olive Street, 27th Floor, Los Angeles CA 90015

The Swinerton team partners up with public/civic entities and, through its charitable arm The Swinerton Foundation, non-profit organizations with the goal of providing sustainable establishments and neighborhoods. Many of the team’s efforts revolve around sustainable methods and features that will reduce any negative impact the project has on people and the environment. The 89,000-square-foot Wingspan Event Center in Oregon is a good example. The center’s primary structure uses mass timber CLT “butterfly roof,” along with mass timber CLT structures in the gallery area. The main exposition hall can house 200 trade show booths, four conference rooms, three meetings/office spaces, and a commercial kitchen. Other details include a new 342-stall parking lot and a new 148-stall parking lot.
