Newton lies about seven miles from downtown Boston. The town has its own commercial zone designated for the numerous market industries in the area. Companies, whether small or large, wanting to start their business in this suburban city need to find the right architect for their project.

Our editorial team decided to list The Best Commercial Architects in Newton, Massachusetts. These are the architects that have proven their knowledge and integrated creativity and functionality into their projects. Our editorial team studied the range of their portfolios, their strategic design processes, and their abilities and expertise as a team.

Morris Architects

33 Murray Road, West Newton, MA 02465

A challenge faced by Morris Architects with the design of 313 Washington Street was to blend the facets of vintage and modern in one office building. Creating a connection between an urban site, a ’20s commercial block, and a prolific residential community was no easy task, yet, the firm addressed these challenges by adding four stories with a three-and-a-half-story underground garage and a modest, symmetrical exterior façade.

The concept added a tall pitched roof that helped the structure display compatibility with the neighborhood and, at the same time, resolved a zoning issue.

Morris Architects is a creator of buildings and interiors that integrate art and function. Townhouses, high-rises, buildings, interiors for companies, restaurants, hotels, and secure facilities: the firm understands that every successful project starts with a well-thought concept. Behind every well-thought idea is a talented and committed group of creative professional designers that serves the client and the community it resides in.

MSH ARCHITECTS

162 Cynthia Road, Newton Centre, MA 02459

Since 1985, MSH Architecture Associates has provided architectural design services in the greater Boston, Providence, and New York-New Jersey metropolitan areas. Corporate, industrial, institutional, and residential clients and developers have trusted the firm with its work,  knowing that it has sufficient expertise and knowledge to fulfill any design project. Offices, facilities, interiors, commercial renovation, restaurant, retail store design, or house addition: MSH’s aim is to collaborate with the client via attention, promptness, and a high respect for the end product and service excellence.

Founder and principal architect Marc S. Hershman—an alumnus of Cornell and Harvard Universities’ Schools of Architecture—personally oversees every project. With his active participation, Hershman shows the team of MSH Architecture Associates how to work closely with clients to design custom solutions and bring concepts to reality. Take the China Trade Restaurant, for example. Proper placement of relevant furniture and fixtures and interior design unites modernity and simplicity to create a luxurious, classic, peaceful, and simple outcome for this space.

SLR Architecture

350 Washington Street, Wellesley, MA 02481

For almost a decade, Stephen L. Reilly has worked with the most prestigious architectural firms, completing high-end residential projects in Boston and its surrounding suburbs. His commercial experience includes multi-family residential work, large office buildings, biotech, and mixed-use work. Holding extensive knowledge in multiple industries, Reilly established SLR Architecture in 2005, leading the firm by overseeing the project through to its completion. He manages the firm’s design process by focusing on the client’s concerns and ideas, believing that the best design ideas come from the owner’s perspective.

SLR Architecture’s design process begins with a feasibility study to define any problems, determine what regulatory issues to address, identify the probable budget, and establish the timetable. After establishing a clear plan, the firm will start developing plans to be presented in a simple sketch plan format, a hard-line CAD format, or a 3D massing model. The firm will then proceed to design development, bidding, and guiding the entire construction process.
